What is Literacy?

Using networking sites and blogging helps to develop a higher level of literacy in children. For example, a survey by The National Literacy Trust showed that children who have active networking profiles in sites like Facebook or blogs are very skillful at writing and they find it enjoyable. It would be interesting that teachers and parents encourage children to have presence online through the use of different sites so that they develop the interest for writing in a freer and more personal way. As a consequence, they will develop a higher level of competence at this skill. However, children must also be taught to use online sites with responsibility, safety precaution, and for constructive purposes. Promoting the use of networking sites and blogs with responsibility in education opens the possibility to form a generation interested in writing and at the same time it will bring an improvement at writing and reading skills.
